World-class live jazz can be heard in Bern thanks to the International Jazz Festival. The first festival took place in 1976, and it has been thrilling jazz fans every year since. The festival has become the reputation of one of the most important traditional jazz events.

Over a 10-week period, leading stars will be following in the footsteps of the greats like B.B. King, Michel Camilo, Oscar Peterson, Fats Domino, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and appearing in Marian's Jazzroom for 1-week residencies.

Musical highlights
Featuring a major opening event in the Theater National Bern and a concluding Gala Night in the Stadttheater, the festival will include concerts in the jazz tent by up-and-coming jazz bands in parallel to the prominent events. New bands will thus have a platform to place their talent under the spotlight.
