We are making a major investment in the future of the Kursaal Bern. We have spent months planning, project managing and developing the project - and visualising how the «new» Kursaal will take shape. The next couple of years will see us carrying through our plans. The new foyer on the large Kursaal terrace is scheduled for completion midway through 2011, the arena twelve months later.
It's then that the future can begin! The arena will look amazing once it's completed; the foyer will be bathed in light and the access ways to the casino and the conferencing facilities will be readily identifiable. Talking of which, the new conferencing area will demonstrate timeless architecture, a keen sense of design and the latest in infrastructure facilities. The whole venture is aimed at strengthening Bern's international reputation as a meeting destination.
Until the dream becomes reality, though, we at the Kursaal have a lot to do - and there are things you, as our guest, need to be aware of too. You'll be glad to know that while the work is progressing, the Kursaal, the Hotel Allegro, the restaurants and the Grand Casino will remain open for business. The Kursaal slogan translates roughly as «The bears of Bern have been let loose» - and with so much planned for the coming months, the slogan is highly appropriate! Despite our best efforts, the renovations being carried out to the Kursaal will involve a certain amount of upheaval - something we would like to apologise for in advance. We also want to thank our staff for all the hard work they're putting in and for their flexibility.
«The Kursaal 2012» project is a fascinating venture, a sign of our commitment to high quality, and a milestone in our history. We invite you to visit www.umbau.kursaal-bern.ch to see aspects of the building site you never knew existed! Whether virtual or real, a visit to the Kursaal Bern is certainly worth your while. Either way, you're very welcome!
