Our Mission Statement
At the Kursaal Bern & Hotel Allegro we are ecology-oriented. Protection of the environment is an inherent and essential feature of our entrepreneurial philosophy. This guiding principle defines our actions and, in particular, our commitment concerning all aspects of our energy policy and waste disposal planning. By operating fully in accordance with ISO Environmental Management Norm 14001*, we strive for environmental enhancement and optimization.
By communicating our environmental activities, we sensibilize and motivate our staff. Our environmental awareness and sense of responsibility contribute to stakeholder value, while demonstrating our firm commitment to future generations.
Our Environmental Policy
Protection of the environment is one of the greatest challenges of our time. More than ever before, we of the Kursaal Bern & Hotel Allegro see it as our duty to promote and pursue an active policy on protection of the environment; and to help safeguard basic natural resources for the generations to come.
We have been fulfilling ISO Environmental Management Norm 14001* since 2007. As one of the leading congress, gastronomy and hotel enterprises in Canton Bern, we strive to play a pioneering role. In all our planning and projects, environmental thinking makes an essential contribution. From concept to completion, appropriate measures are adopted. Our state-of-the-art infrastructure is water and energy-saving, and we are actively engaged in the reduction of CO2 emissions.
We have set up our own special Environment Group within the company to ensure on-going improvements in all departments of our enterprise. Protection of the environment starts with small attention to detail; each and every one of us has an important part to play.
We comply with our legal commitments and adapt to new legislative requirements at all times.
* The Kursaal Bern is already certified in the following departments - the Hotel Allegro Bern, Hotel Shop, Restaurant Yù East and West, Restaurant Giardino, Allegro Bar, Zino Platinum Cigar Lounge, and event rooms Vivace 1-6 and Prima 7-12. The following sectors are currently managed in accordance with ISO norms and will be certified after completion of our extensive renovation programme "Kursaal 2012" - the event rooms Arena, Arena Foyer, Szenario, Intermezzo, Baccara and Adagio; Restaurant Meridiano; and our main kitchen, incoming goods department and stockrooms.
Bern Energy Prize
Since the opening of the Hotel Allegro 12 years ago we have been an ecology-oriented enterprise, placing high priority on energy efficiency and protection of the environment.
In 2010 we competed for the Bern Energy Prize and won 2nd place in the "Company Category". The jury commended the Hotel Allegro on its high level of voluntary commitment to energy efficiency and in setting exemplary above-average standards in the hotel industry.
Climate Platform of the City of Bern
The Kursaal Bern (including the Hotel Allegro) was the first enterprise in the gastronomy sector to become a member of the "Climate Platform of the City of Bern". This business platform comprises some 40 members and plays an active role in the reduction of CO2 emissions.
